ARRIVAL AND ACCOMODATION

 

WHERE ARE start AND FINISH OF THE bemer cyclassics?

The finish of all races is on Mönckebergstraße. The starting grid for the amateur races is located between Binnenalster and Außenalster, on the street Alsterglacis/Kennedybrücke/An der Alster. Please follow the signs on site to your starting blocks.
The start of the elite is expected to be at Jungfernstieg.

WHERE CAN I PARK MY MOTORHOME?

It is not possible to park a motorhome directly at the starting area in Hamburg. Please book a parking space at an official camp site.

WHERE CAN I PARK IN THE CITY CENTER?

Public parking spaces in Hamburg city center are limited and availability is further restricted because of the event. It is recommended to arrive by bike or public transport. Those who cannot do without a car can choose between various parking garages in the city center.

WHICH TRAIN StationS ARE THE CLOSEST?

Start of the amateur race: The starting line is located in the immediate vicinity of the Hamburg Dammtor (S-Bahn) and Stephansplatz (U1) stops. The starting line, especially the rear blocks, can also be reached within a few minutes from Hamburg main station (all public transport lines, as well as long-distance transport).
Elite start: The Elite start can be reached via the Jungfernstieg underground and S-Bahn station (U1, U2, U4, S1, S3).

Hotel OFFERS

Selected hotels in Hamburg offer discounted rates for all participants and accompanying persons. Due to the proximity of the hotels to the start and finish area, participants can roll up to the starting line on the morning of the race day in complete relaxation. In addition, a hearty breakfast is included at all hotels. Here you can get more information.


REGISTRATION

 

UNTIL WHEN CAN I REGISTER?

The online-registration closes on September 01, 2024. The organizer reserves the right to close the registration at an earlier date if the capacity limit is reached.

HOW CAN I CHNAGE MY REGISTRATION DATA?

Changes of registration data (no change of names) can be done independently until August 18, 2024 via the platform „timeto“ (https://www.timeto.com/en-GB/signin).

CAN I TRANSFER MY STARTING SPOT?

Until August 18, 2024, you can easily transfer your starting spot via the timeto registration platform. Log in to your existing account and select "Transfer Registration", then enter the email address of the new person and send the transfer. This person will receive a notification that the starting spot has been transferred to them. As soon as the person confirms this by clicking on the link in the e-mail they receive, they can register for the current rate. You will receive the amount you paid minus a €10 processing fee back into your account. Substitute participants who are not re-registered will be disqualified.
After August 18, 2024, a re-registration is only possible on the event site between September 05 and September 09 during the starting document distribution for a re-registration fee of 10,- € (cash or EC card). Please bring a signed power of attorney and a copy of the identity card of the person to be re-registered. The handling of the already paid entry fee will then be agreed between the two persons involved in the re-registration.

is a late registration possible?

A late registration is possible at the starting document distribution between September 05 and September 07 (only if the capacity has not been reached!). The late registration-form must be filled out completely and legibleg ad must be signed. Payment is possible in cash or by EC card. Please have your identity card ready.

CAN I CHANGE MY STARTING PLACE TO 2025?

It is not possible to rebook for the following year. Until August 18, 2024 you have the possibility to transfer your booking to another participant for a fee of 10€.

WHICH BIKES ARE PERMITTED?

Whether racing bike, mountain bike, trekking bike or city bike. All types of bike are welcome at the BEMER Cyclassics! However, please note the safety requirements and minimum speeds. Pedelecs (e-bikes) are only permitted on the 60 km route. Participation with a tandem is also possible, please note that you must register in special registration categories for this. Recumbents and handbikes may also participate, but will be categorized independently of their expected speed and the special provisions in the conditions of participation must also be observed here. Cargo bikes and fixies are not permitted for safety reasons.

CAN I PARTICIPATE WITH A Pedelec (E-Bike) aT THE BEMER Cyclassics?

Participating with a Pedelec is only possible on the Cyclassics 60km route, if the motor support is limited tol 25 km/h. S-Pedelecs are not permitted.

HOW ARE THE STARTING BLOCKS ALLOCATED?

The starting blocks will be allocated on the basis of the stated average speed and previous participation in the BEMER Cyclassics. Participants who are taking part in a cycling event for the first time and state an expected average speed of faster than 40 km/h may have to submit a verifiable result. Registration must be completed by August 18, 2024 in order to be entitled to the front starting blocks. Anyone who registers after this date will then be placed in one of the rear starting blocks according to capacity, regardless of the average speed stated.

when do i get information about my race number and starting block?

All participants who have registered by August 18, 2024 will receive their race number and starting block by e-mail at least one week before the race day. Those who register later will only receive this information when they collect their starting documents.

How ans where can i pick up my Starting documents?

Please bring your registration confirmation and your identity card with you to pick up your starting documents. The starting documents will be handed out from 05.09. - 07.09. at the event area in Hamburg city center.

For the first time, the starting documents will be handed out at the Expo on the Rathausmarkt.

The person collecting the starting documents must bring your registration confirmation, a signed authorization to collect the documents and a copy of the participant's identity card to the starting document issue point.

how can i order the official jersey?

You can order the official jersey directly during the online registration or afterwards until August 18, 2024 via Online-Shop Santini. Please note: There is no shipping, the jersey must be picked up at the Expo on site.

when do i get my jersey?

you can only pick up your pre-ordered jersey on-site at the expo during the starting document distribution.

where is the info-booth of the organizers?

The info-booth is at Gerhart-Hauptmann-Platz.

Can I join my friends/colleagues in the starting block?

Only if they are in a slower starting block, further back. Lining up in a starting group that is further forward will result in disqualification.

how can i find my starting block?

The individual starting blocks are signposted on site. They are located between the Inner and Outer Alster. On the streets Alsterglacis, Kennedybrücke and An der Alster.

Can I drop off my luggage before take-off?

The starting goodie-bag collection point is again at Gerhart-Hauptmann-Platz. Please note that only the official start bag with a legible start number will be accepted.

are there restrooms in the sarting area?

There are mobile toilets in several places in the starting area and at the starting blocks.

How does the start of the race work?

The starts of the 60km and 100km laps take place separately. The starting blocks are open from 40 minutes before the start and close 10 minutes before the respective start time. The starting blocks will be sent into the race individually for the safety of the participants. The organizer reserves the right to stop individual starting blocks briefly for organizational purposes before passing through the starting arch.

Starting times:
Cyclassics 60:            between 07:30am and 08:00am
Cyclassics 100:           between 08:45am and 09:40am

You can find out the exact information about which starting block will start the race in the athletes' guide, which is available on the website approx. 10 days before the event.  

Which routes do exist?

Two distances will be offered again this year: The BEMER Cyclassics 60 over approx. 53.3 km and the Cyclassics 100 over 96.5 km. Find out more about the routes here.

Can I switch between distances during the race?

NO! A change during the race is not possible for operational reasons, as not all road closures can be active at the same time. A distance change is only possible from the longer to the shorter distance and only BEFORE the start of the shorter distance.
Participants who are registered for a shorter distance and still complete the longer distance will be disqualified! The route will be modified accordingly at the fork and merge points.

Are there refreshment points along the route?

There is at least one refreshment point in Wedel on both the 60km and 100km routes (km 34 and 73.5 respectively). Those turning into the parking lot have the opportunity to refill their bottles and stock up on fruit, bars and gels. On the long distance there is an additional refreshment point at 43.7 km in Barmstedt.

What do I do with my garbage (gels, banana peels, etc.) during the race?

As in normal road traffic, you are also obliged to dispose of your garbage properly in the garbage cans provided during the race. These can be found, for example, at the refreshment station or in the starting and finish area. Anyone who throws their garbage away on the course during the race will be disqualified.

what should i do in the event of a fall?

Please help your fellow cyclists in the event of a fall and warn other participants. As in normal road traffic, the emergency number 112 also applies to the BEMER Cyclassics. In this context, please also state the starting number of the participant who has fallen so that they can be clearly identified.

are there broom wagon?

There are broom wagons that collect participants who are too slow or can no longer ride.

minimum speeds*:

BEMER Cyclassics 60: approx. 24km/h

BEMER Cyclassics 100: approx. 26km/h

*The minimum speeds apply to the total time from start to finish and are adapted to the route profile. It is therefore possible to ride slower uphill, while a faster average speed is calculated for downhill. The cut-off will be enforced continuously at the back of the race field in order to comply with the approved cut-off times. We ask for your understanding and consideration for the broom wagon drivers who are doing their job on this day.

Is it compulsory to wear a helmet?

Participants of the BEMER Cyclassics are obliged to wear a bicycle helmet with a closed chin strap. Participants without a helmet will be disqualified.

is there a After-Race-area?

After crossing the finish line, you will be directed to the after-race-area at Alstertor and Gerhart-Hauptmann-Platz, where there will be snacks and drinks for all participants.

Pasta Party

There will be no Pasta Party in 2024.

Is there a bicycle parking lot on the event site?

There will be a free, guarded bicycle parking lot for all participants on the event site on race day. If possible, bring your own lock to double secure your bike.

are there showers at the event site?

Sadly, we cannot offer showers at the event site.

where is teh DRK?

The DRK will be located directly at the post-race refreshment area on Gerhart-Hauptmann-Platz on race day. There will also be various medical patrols patrolling the course and the city center.

where is teh Transponder dispenser?

These are disposable transponders that do not have to be returned.

Where do i get my pictures after the race?

You can find your pictures after the race at www.getpica.com or in the results list directly after your name. You can find further information here.

Where are lost property handed in?

Lost property can be handed in at the lost and found office tent at the Alstertor. 

Where are bicycles from the broom wagon handed in?

Bicycles will be handed out in the lost and found tent in the post-destination area at Alstertor.

where can i find my certificate?

All participants can access their certificates online via the results list and print them out themselves.

Who will be honored at the award ceremony?

The top 3 male/female finishers will be honored at the award ceremony. Honors and possible prizes will only be awarded during the award ceremony on site, there is no right to the forwarding of prizes.

how does the team rating work?

The team ranking is based solely on the teams formed during the registration process, regardless of club or company affiliation. The ranking for each route is determined by adding together the fastest net times of 3 female or 4 male participants. The differentiation is due to the different minimum team sizes for women and men.
